Butterfield’s was the
Scene of Annual Valentine’s Day Event
By John Emmering
Butterfield’s Pancake House and Restaurant was the destination of 17 Northern
Illinois Regional Group members and friends Saturday, February 17th,
as they gathered for a Valentine’s Luncheon.
NIRG members began to assemble at the entrance to the restaurant as the
tables were being prepared for the group and soon the participants took their
places. As coffee cups were being
filled members had an opportunity to catch up with each other on a variety of
subjects. The planned club
activities coming up in the months ahead were one of the topics discussed.
After the arrival of all those participating, orders were placed from either the
lunch or the breakfast menus. The
conversation continued as the food was brought in from the kitchen and the meal
began. Enjoying the luncheon were
John & Robin Emmering, Terry & Kitty Freihage, Frank & Phyllis Madrigali, with
their guest Louise Engert, Joe & Millie Olds, John & Este Scheve, John & Barbara
Slobodnik, and George & Dawn Zulas along with their son Tom accompanied Denise
Brussels. John and Colleen Steck had
planned the event, however were unable to attend due to a last minute
commitment.
After a pleasing lunch and more conversation the group began to break up to
depart for home amidst the snow flurries that had recently commenced, a reminder
that it was still mid-February. The
Valentine’s luncheon was an enjoyable time and great ending to Valentine’s week
2018.
