5th Annual M.A.R.C. Turkey Dinner
Over one hundred fifty members and friends of at least seven Antique Car Clubs
gathered Sunday November 4th
at the Elburn Lions Club Meeting Hall to enjoy a great Turkey Dinner with all
the trimmings. Dan and Melinda
Pritchett of the Illinois Region of the Model “A” Restorers Club sponsored and
hosted the 5th
annual event on behalf of their club.
In addressing the group, the Pritchetts announced that the attendance was
154, up from last year.
To encourage participants to drive their antique cars, a competition was set up
to award the club that drove the most collector cars to the event.
The weather did not cooperate however, and the rain experienced the day
of the event prevented many from driving their collector cars to the dinner.
Still there were some antique
cars out in the lot. Dan Pritchett
helped by bring three antique cars of his own.
Model “A” Fords seemed most represented and the Salt Creek Chapter of the
Model “A” Ford Club won most cars driven.
Our Northern Illinois Regional Group was represented that afternoon by Ed &
Diane Crane, Ron Dopke & Bernice Short, John & Robin Emmering, John Judge &
Yolanda Rojos, Tom & Madeline O’Donnell and
Len & Irene Vinyard. It was
great to renew acquaintance with members of some of the other car clubs and
visit with some old friends from these groups.
After ample time was given for conversation and
visits to the cash bar participants began to line up for the turkey
dinner buffet by table number. The
diners filled their plates with ample amounts of turkey, stuffing, potatoes and
other entrees. After dinner there
were plenty of deserts that were brought and shared by participants.
As the event ended
the 50/50 tickets were drawn, and the winner was our own John Judge. The
Pritchetts promised the event will continue next year. Lets hope for dry weather
next year so we can bring some V-8s.
