Eggs and Eights in
Geneva; A Hearty Breakfast and Good Time
By John Emmering
An array of seven vintage Ford Motor Company automobiles caught the attention of
early morning passersby strolling down South Street in Geneva as our Northern
Illinois Regional Group gathered for a spring tradition “Egg & Eights”.
The event took place Sunday April 26th
at the Egg Harbor Café. The vintage
FoMoCo automobiles were driven that morning by Roger Hunz, a 1951 Ford Custom
Tudor; Tom & Judy Buscaglia, also a 1951 Ford Custom Tudor; Ken & Carolyn
Bounds, a 1950 Ford Custom Convertible; Dan & Diane Pudelek, a 1953 Ford Tudor
Victoria; Ron Steck unveiling the new look of his recently repainted and
restored 1940 Ford Pickup; Joey Novak & Millie Olds, 1953 Mercury Monterey; and
Tim Carlig, a 1936 Deluxe Fordor Sedan.
By 9:00 am the assemblage of hungry Ford V-8ers, 21 in all, gathered at the long set of tables prepared for us inside the café. Soon orders were in and members began conversing over coffee or orange juice waiting for the breakfast of their choice. Partaking in the breakfast were John & Robin Emmering, who hosted the event, Ken & Carolyn Bounds, Ron & Arlene Blum, Tom & Judy Buscaglia, Tim Carlig, Roger Hunz, John Judge, Kathy Larson, Frank Madrigali, Joey Novak & Millie Olds, Gary Osborne, Dan & Diane Pudelek, John & Este Scheve, and Ron Steck.
As the waitresses picked up the empty plates after breakfast was concluded, most
of the group funneled back outside of the Egg Harbor Café onto South Street and
the mild spring weather to admire the vehicles in attendance parked along the
street and chat with locals who stopped to admire our cars.
Once again “Eggs and Eights” was a great occasion inaugurating what we
expect to be wonderful spring and summer seasons of Ford V-8 events.
