Duals Night – Culver’s, Buffalo Grove
By Ken Bounds
On Saturday evening, June 27, Ron & Arlene Blum hosted a “Duals Night”
get-together at Culver’s in Buffalo Grove.
Members began arriving in their classic beauties about 5:30 for some tire
kicking.
Driving Early V-8s were our hosts Ron & Arlene Blum – ’40 Ford Fordor, Ken &
Carolyn Bounds – ’51 Mercury Sport Coupe, Tom & Judy Buscaglia – ’51 Ford Tudor,
John & Robin Emmering – ’49 Ford Fordor, Joe & Nell Kozmic – ’53 Mercury
Monterey, James & Kathy Larson – ’39 Ford Tudor, Joey Novak & Millie Olds – ’53
Mercury Monterey, and Stan & JoAnne Stack – ’53 Ford Tudor.
Other classics were driven by our Prez Scott Gilday with daughters Reese
& Ciena – ’69 Mustang Convertible, Dan & Diane Pudelek – ’56 Ford Fordor, and
Joe & Delice Serritella – ’50 Oldsmobile.
John & Barb Slobodink arrived in modern iron.
We were even visited by some folks that showed up in a gorgeous post-war
Plymouth Station Wagon.
Before going in for dinner, we had plenty of time for some catching up and
lively conversation. We also had
time to look over the cars present, including a couple of special ones.
This was the first road trip for the Larsons in their ’39 since joining
the club. James had recently gotten
the car back together after radiator work – it looked great.
It was also the first time most of us had seen Dan & Diane’s “new” ’56.
Diane’s outfit even matched the car and she commented that the air
conditioning worked great!
Ron Blum passed out coupons to everyone and then we went inside to enjoy dinner
and ice cream. After we spent some
more time sitting in our chairs out by the cars, the mosquitos decided it was
their turn for dinner. As darkness
approached, everyone began to make their way home.
We all had a good time and thank Ron and Arlene for setting up the event.
