Tenth Annual V-8s and
Veterans Luncheon
By Ken Bounds
On a beautiful November day, 24 V-8ers and family met for a luncheon to salute
our members who served in the armed forces.
Our thanks go out to Earl Heintz for once again making arrangements for
the luncheon at Sam’s of Arlington, held this year on Saturday, November 7.
This luncheon became an annual event for the Northern Illinois Regional Group in
2006. In those days we had door
prizes at the luncheon, stories and souvenirs from several of our veterans and
even a few tours to local attractions.
On this day, after a delicious lunch, Ken Bounds said a few words
thanking everyone for coming and keeping the tradition going as well as a Thank
You and a round of applause for our veterans present.
The pleasant mid-fall weather allowed a few classic vehicles to come out one
more time before hibernation. Shown
below, 1940 Ford Pickup - Ron Steck, 1941 Mercury Tudor - Corrinne Collins, 1952
Ford Pickup - Jeff Trilling, and 1954 Packard Cavalier - Ron Dopke.
Not shown, 1950 Ford Convertible - Ken Bounds and 1950 Ford Tudor, Joe
Dispensa.
Those gathering for an excellent lunch with a large helping of V-8 camaraderie
were Ken Bounds, Norm Collins & granddaughter Corrinne, Joe & Marie Dispensa,
