Fall Colors Driving Tour

Our Fall Colors Tour October 25th was a success with perfect weather and good color.  We headed out on Route 64 for White Pines State Park for this year’s drive.  As we traveled we did run into typical Illinois summer: road construction.  It was short lived and we were on our way again.  As we traveled we saw a lot of field being stripped of their harvest and the reality that winter is not far behind.

We arrived at the park a little after 11:00 and after a little talking headed for the White Pines Inn for lunch and a much needed bathroom break.  We had our own room which was nice so that it was quiet for just us.  After lunch we walked around a bit.  The ladies went to the gift shop and then it was back to the cars.  As we drove off we took a drive through the park and doing so you have to drive through the creek that flows through the park.   I had the lowest car so I suspect that everyone thought if he can make it so can I.  We headed back to the city life once again with out any car problems and a great trip.

Those on the tour were Roger Hunz, ‘51 Tudor, Joe and Marie Dispensa and grandson Max, ‘50 Tudor, John and Barb Slobodnik, ‘54 Fordor, Tom and Madeleine O'Donnell, ‘40 Mercury, and Tom Buscaglia, ‘51 Tudor.  Driving modern cars were Gary Osborne, Ron and Arlene Blum, Len & Irene Vinyard, and Ron and Colleen Steck.
