Riverview Ford Car Show - June 14

By Ken Bounds

Last year, Tour Chairman Ron Steck arranged for our group to show our cars at Riverview Ford in Oswego to meet the Grand Tour group as they crossed the country on their way to the Grand National Meet in Lake Tahoe.  This year, we decided to do it again, this time in conjunction with a car show sponsored by the dealership.

Those bringing out Early V-8s were Ken Bounds - 1950 Crestliner, Tim Carling - 1936 Fordor, John Emmering - 1951 Fordor, Joe Kozmic - 1937 Coupe, and John Scheve - 1947 Coupe.  With Ron’s pickup nearing completion, maybe this is the last time he will need to go to a show in a modern vehicle.  We look forward to seeing Ron’s ‘40 in Springfield.

We had a fun time at the show looking at the 40 or so cars on display and enjoying each others’ company, enjoying lunch, and voting for our favorite cars.  It was hot in the June sun, but we somehow managed to keep ourselves cool.  Joe even managed to coerce the dealership into providing us t-shirts.  When all the ballots were counted, Tim and Ken each won a trophy.  It was a nice day and we thank Ron for setting up the event.
