Early Ford V-8 Museum
Work Party
By Tom O’Donnell
Len Vinyard and I went to Auburn to join in the Museum work party on March 24-27. We were very impressed with the progress made since the National Meet last August. More items were put on display and the displays were more organized.
On Wednesday, we helped with getting the new fire
engine running. This engine has not
run in 20 years. New points were
required in the distributor and a new fuel line to a temporary fuel tank was
fabricated. Work was stopped so the
Trustees could attend the Board meeting.
Len and I attended the meeting where a new
brochure showing off the museum was discussed.
After minor changes are made the brochure will be printed and copies
placed at the other area museums.
Other business discussed included building maintenance, financial status and
future plans. The Trustees were
impressed with the printing job on the Foundation Report done by Ken & Carolyn
Bounds.
Thursday Len and I worked on unpacking boxes and
getting items in display cases. We
set up the dashboard display in the 2 new cases.
Shelly Van Pelt also helped with the display as I was also helping Don
Rogers set up the computer in the library.
On Friday, I worked on getting the cash register working and Len sorted
out some packed items. We left after
lunch.
We both enjoyed the time we spent there and are planning to go back for
another work party.
