Home Run Inn Flathead Roundup

By Ken Bounds

On May 1 we held a tire kick and dinner at Home Run Inn Pizza in Addison.  Nine V-8ers braved a brief shower to bring out their classic cars on a warm spring evening.  Those driving Early V-8s (and other antique cars) included:  Ron & Arlene Blum – ’40 Fordor; Ken & Carolyn Bounds – ’50 Crestliner; George Cech – ’62 Olds Convertible; Lloyd & Gladys Duzell – ’35 Tudor; John Emmering – ’51 Fordor; Ed & Roni Fontana – ’47 Coupe; Earl & Gene Heintz – ’50 Mercury; Ernie & Terry Herzog – ’53 Coupe; and Tom & Madeleine O’Donnell – ’40 Mercury.  Bringing modern iron were Tom Buscaglia with his brother Jerry, Joe & Marie Dispensa, Joe & Nell Kozmic, Frank & Phyllis Madrigali, Dan & Diane Pudelek, John & Barbara Slobodnik, and Stan & JoAnne Stack.

This was the first V-8 Club event that John Emmering attended.  John told us the interesting story of how he acquired the ’51 and also told us about his ’49 Fordor still undergoing restoration.  We were all delighted to meet John and hope to see him often at future meetings and events.

After spending 30 minutes or so in the parking lot and talking “car stuff,” we headed inside to order our meal.  The food and the service were very good and everyone seemed to have a great time enjoying V-8 Club camaraderie.  It was nice to have such a pleasant evening this early in the year to get our cars out for a little driving fun.  The evening came to an end all too quickly as most of those in attendance scurried home to avoid the next shower; it never came.
