2008 Christmas Brunch

By Ken Bounds

The weather outside was frightful, but that didn’t stop 27 NIRG members and family from attending our annual Christmas brunch, held December 21 at Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace.  The V-8’s were nestled all snug in their garages while visions of sugar-plums - and beef stroganoff, fresh donuts, eggs Benedict, etc., etc. – were not mirages.  The bone-chilling temperatures and snowy roads did not deter us from one of the club’s favorite activities:  eating.  The food at the Drury Lane brunch is hard to beat and the tables and varieties of food just go on and on.  Even with all the eating we still had time for a very relaxing morning of visiting with old V-8 friends and making some new ones with some of our newest members in attendance.

While some folks took advantage of last-minute shopping at the adjacent Oakbrook Center, others went on their way home or to continue with holiday planning.  Those attending were:  Dick & Dot Alfini, their daughter Susan with friend Carl and her son Ryan, Ben & Ginny Ashley, Ron & Arlene Blum, Ken & Carolyn Bounds, Don & Elaine Braun, Tom & Judy Buscaglia, Stan Gaynor, John Judge, Joe & Nell Kozmic, Frank & Phyllis Madrigali, Roger Meness, Joey Novak, Dan & Diane Pudelek, Larry & Jerry Webb.  Thank you to all who attended, and especially to President Dan Pudelek for once again making the arrangements.
